About this deal

Iris finds herself trapped in a relationship with a young baby to take care of, but neither of them can forget the other. The incredible and responsible way in which this story is handled is something I didn't know I needed until I was already reading it. Her story broke me at times, it felt so real, because it is real for a lot of people, but it gave me hope. But my past, my fraudulent prince, just won't let me go*Contains domestic/sexual abuse not involving the hero.

Secondly, I’m not going to tell you anything about the plot of this book because I want…I need you to read this just like I did. Before I get into it, I have to warn readers that this book has sensitive themes that may trigger some. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. And despite that, there are still beautiful, scared, and loyal things in this world waiting and giving us hope. A story of true survivors, though it’s fictionalized, it could be anyone we come across everyday in our lives. With the visual clarity of the author’s vivid, heartfelt, and passionate words, this story felt real, raw and painfully open and honest. My heart just raced, my pulse went berserk and I had to calm myself down because it did transport me back to my own dismal hole many a times.

A story that will grab you, set you on a mesmerizing journey that will both slay you and ultimately heals your mind, your heart and your soul. When I tell you that nothing was preparing me for this, I meant it, because I lost count of how many times I cried, gasped and realized that I was reading with my hand over my heart, pressing so hard, because I was afraid that I would leave my body at any minute with the amount of emotions I felt. Parallel to the excruciating, very graphic and horrid POV from Iris days of abuse, we had August's POV.I understood where she was coming from with her past with her mom as well as her past with Caleb, but I didn't like how she treated the H or behaved at times. A journey of girl trying to raise herself with hopes and dreams in her eyes, wings stretching just to take flight when EVERYTHING in her life just comes go a standstill. Actually, both August and Iris are biracial (white and black) and this book always holds an important discussion about growing up biracial and never feeling like you belong to either half of yourself. I wore my emotions on my face throughout this entire experience (if I had a camera there you would see how impacted I was not only by the story, but by the way it was beautifully written).

Read this book if you’re a self sadist and willing to torture yourself and dug a whole in your soul. I truly believed that these two characters were real and were soulmates and it was a damn treat to be inside their heads. It’s been days since I finished reading this book and I still have NO IDEA how to put coherent words down. Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes The h is raped multiple times by the OM, and that is pretty descriptive. All Iris's plans and ambitions are destroyed when she finds herself in a relationship with an obsessive possessive man, a violent and destructive to the soul relationship she didn't see coming.
